Energy Assessment

Home Energy Audit

A home energy audit helps you pinpoint where your house is losing energy and what you can do to save money. We will also assess health and safety issues that may exist in your home. Our purpose is to reduce energy consumption, provide a healthy atmosphere, and optimize energy efficiency.

You could save 5 to 30 percent on your energy bill by making efficiency upgrades identified in your home energy audit.

The Procedure

Here are some ideas to prepare for before we conduct an energy assessment:

Copies or a summary of the home’s yearly energy bills helps us establish what to look for during the audit

Make a list of any existing problems such as condensation and uncomfortable or drafty rooms

We will first examine the outside of the house and its features, and then analyze the homeowner’s behavior:

1) Is anyone home during working hours?

2) What is the average thermostat setting for summer and winter?

3) How many people live here?

4) Is every room in use?

These questions are important to give us an idea of how much energy is used vs. how much energy should be used.
